This site has a lot of really nice depth map images. Really impressive stuff under this catagory: http://www.nipic.com/design/25/12.html

I'd rather be doing this kind of artistic stuff that military emblems. I drew this image in gimp. It started as a scanned in pencil sketch:

PegLeg44 very nice result from depth map, maybe you could try my 'Pencil Shade' script to convert an image to a pencil drawing to use with 'Depth Map'

Hi Graechan

I'm definetely interested in your script. I've picked up many things here on the forum in my quest for depth map creating.

That web site is chinese and was discovered and shared with the CNC forum that I'm involved in a couple of years ago.

When you think of the area and what selections have to be made, then all you have to do is put gradeints inside of them. It's kind of hard but not too bad.

I find it hard to free view the stereograms...they come out reversed depth wise when I try to view them.

Your depth maps are awesome, PegLeg44. I especially enjoyed your YouTube video where you describe one of the processes you use to create them.

I wish I could watch that video here in the library. I would love to know how to make these - they are handy for extruding in Bryce's symmetrical lattice then exporting as .obj files for use in other 3D software.

I've attached the .obj but I don't think I got the resolution high enough.

Definitely a fan of depth maps since they give you great results when you use them for bumpmap targets. Thanks for sharing Pegs. :)

Thanks for the link to those depthmaps!

You can do some fun things with them... here is the result of a script (I wrote a very long time ago to create roofs from a depth map for use on my maps) run on the bear:

Sorry if I was unclear. I wasn't referring to the video posted in this thread. It was another video I watched a little while back, where you demonstrated how to make an image "pop" with a Popeye line drawing. I think it was your video. :smiley2
