Scientific Description:

Stem 5−30 cm, often branched, decumbent to erect. Leaves (8−)12−17(−21) × 5−8(−11) mm, opposite or rarely whorled, ovate to lanceolate, upper leaves usually lanceolate. Whorls 2−4-flowered. Pedicels 5−17(−20) mm, ± equal to or shorter than subtending leaves, rarely slightly projecting. Calyx lobes 4−5 mm, lanceolate, ± equal to or shorter than the corolla. Corolla blue, 4−5.5(−6) mm diam., margin crenate.

 

Flowering time: June−October.

Habitat: Dry limestone places, cultivated fields, clay and sandy banks, scrub. s.l.−1250 m.

Public Description:

Anagallis foemina, known as “poorman’s weatherglass”, spreads naturally in Türkiye, central and southern Europe and has been introduced in Africa, Asia, North and South America and Australia. The name “foemina” means "female" and refers to the small size of the plant and the gentleness of its appearance. It is a herbaceous annual plant with blue flowers and can reach 20 cm in length. It blooms between June and October and grows in dry limestone places, cultivated fields, clay and sandy banks, and scrub.
