Scientific Description:

Glandular-pubescent annual. Stems decumbent to erect, up to 30 cm. Leaves ovate-oblong, the lower somewhat petiolate, pilose. Inflorescence lax, manyflowered. Bracts with ± the upper half scarious. Pedicels sharply refracted in fruit. Sepals very narrowly lanceolate, acute, 35 mm, with scarious margins, glandular-pubescent. Petals as long as or somewhat shorter than the sepals, glabrous, with unbranched veins. Capsule up to 2 × longer than the sepals, teeth with revolute margins.

 

Flowering time: AprilMay.

Public Description:

Cerastium semidecandrum, commonly known as “five-stamened chickweed”, is native to Türkiye, the Caucasus, Russia and North Africa. It is an annual herbaceous plant with white flowers that can grow up to 30 cm height. The five-stamened chickweed blooms between April and May and is found in rocks, sun-baked meadows, sandy slopes, railwaysides, roadsides, wasteland.
