Carex caryophyllea 'Beatlemania'

Common Name: Mop-headed Sedge, Ornamental Grass

The long leaves of this new selection cascade to the ground, giving the clump a mop head appearance which is similar to the style sported by the Beatles. The soft green, finely textured leaves have very wide, creamy yellow edges. Use it as a low ground cover, in rock gardens, or in containers. A very unique looking sedge.

Sedges are evergreen and perform best in light shade and moist, rich soil. In northern climates, they should be sited out of the way of winter winds and provided with some protection such as snow or straw. If plants look tattered in early spring, cut them back to the ground. The new foliage will quickly fill back in.
