Anthemis ruthenica

1. Anthemis ruthenica Bieb. (E-Eur., Caucasus) – A rare and always ephemeral alien. First recorded in 1828 without further details. Recorded on a railway bank near Vilvoorde in 1956. More regularly seen in the past decades, always associated with grain importation (on grain dumps, unloading quays, etc.), for instance in port areas in Roeselare (1994), Antwerpen (1998) or Gent (2004, 2012).

Anthemis ruthenica is rather reminiscent of native A. arvensis and might have been overlooked (see also Oesau 1978).
