These seeds were collected from Panicum dichotomiflorum, also known as fall panicgrass, and autumn millet. This looks like witch grass but the leaves have no hairs. It is bald withchgrass. It likes to live in full sun to partial shade where, if left to its own devices, this grass can grow to about 4 feet high. This is a food for many different birds and animals. Panicum, in general, are larval host plants for the Northern Pearly-eye, Northern Broken Dash, Tawny-edge Skipper, Teleus Longtail, Dakota Skipper, Indian Skipper, Hobomok Skipper, and Least Skipper butterflies. This annual can be grown in all USDA Hardiness Zones.
