I've been growing these plants for 10 years in these collection hex pots. But at shows they never attracted any attention, I thought that maybe I was the only one that liked them. They all started in little hexs and graduated to the big ones as they grew. I have 4-6 of each species with different locality data. I was hoping to have them flowering when I posted them, but they looked good w/out.
The one Barracuda spotted is Aloinopsis setifera, its definitely one of the favs.
Here's two different Aloinopsis malherbei, they have the best flowers of the group, but not yet
Aloinopsis loganii, the rarest in cultivation, but my cuttings never sell at the shows, no one know what it is unless I tell them.
Alionopsis spathulata
And here is a hybrid I grew from seed
Aloinopsis luckhoffii X villetii

A rescue dog is never to old to learn to be a real dog.
Aloinopsis setifera, A. luckhofii, and A. villetii (probably more too) are all lumped into A. luckhofii now. The A. setifera form is the most spiky. All species become more spiky if they are grown in strong light with not too much water. Aloinopsis are winter growers. I don't find them easy in summer because they won't go properly dormant here, yet they still rot with too much water. If I keep them outside they grow and flower in summer!
To get one of these you'll probably have to find a specialist seller. Mesa Garden has the seed at the moment but not plants.
