Summary[edit]
DescriptionRedstem wormwood (Artemisia scoparia) 1.jpg |
English: Artemisia scoparia. Common name: Redstem wormwood.
Has strongly aromatic foliage with a hint of lemon. Most suited to flavour fat meat as the bitter constituents improve digestibility and stimulate appetite. It is also used to flavour cakes in Italy, and used in aromatic vinegars, floral waters and potpourri. Plant extracts can be found in remedies for stomach ailments or liqueurs. Redstem Wormwood is also rubbed on the skin to deter flies and placed among clothes to deter moths. The leaf tea is a tonic and given to children to dispel parasites. It is also added to baths and put into pillows to cure insomnia. |
