"Around a point"

Frantisek Kupka (i) - Abstract Expressionism (i)
The Paris Museum of Modern Art has preserved this piece. Kupka began his studies related to the making of this work around 1911. In this work, Kupka deviated from his usual act of blurring the boundaries and resorts to making defined borders. Kupka likened the ‘Disks of Newton’ to the disc-like patterns of a lotus flower and used that to create an essence of movement and cosmic vibration. He was digging deep into the hidden theories of light and colour. Kupka tried to make the ideas of something being infinitely vast and infinitely small co-exist in the same context. He also weaves a sense of harmony as he abundantly uses the shades of orange and blue, two colours on the opposite sides of the colour wheel. This piece offer a lighter sensation to the human eye with the help of a white background. This characteristic is also a slight deviation from his previous paintings.
