Epirus, and especially the area of ​​Konitsa, is famous for the skillful construction of bridges that remain unchanged over time and remind us of the greatness of man. In perfect combination with the environment, the concitious bridges offer the visitor amazing pictures that are deeply engraved. Of these, the bridge of Konitsa, the highest monotone of the Balkans measuring 20m, is distinguished. height and 40m. width, built in 1870 by the Pyrsogiannity mastermind Zioa Fronze, the bridge of Kleidonia, Drosopigi-Zerma, Kastaniani, Topolitsa, etc.

Klidoniavistas Bridge

On the banks of Voidomatis and 2 km from Klidonia is the bridge of Kleidoniavistas (or Voidomatis). It is related to the incident referring to the fathear of Gerena’s daughter. It is a one-arched bridge with a solid elongation of its arc, built in 1853 at the expense of the benefactor Balciz Chanoum, who gave for the construction of 37,000 pots. The bridge is set in a beautiful location overlooking plane trees, from where it starts the path that crosses the gorge. Few below are restaurants and hostels.

Zermas or Kantsiotos bridge

The trademark of Kantsikos is the stone bridge in Sarantaporo, one of the few bridges of Epirus, which is founded in the middle of the 18th century – exactly in 1747 – as it shows a relief inscription in a built-in slab and it is the only preserved stone bridge in mainly Sarantaporo.
It is built on a characteristic rock, on the two sides of which its two large arches begin towards the opposite banks of the river. Above the rock there is an even smaller arc for the river to pass through in high season.

Konitsa bridge

At the entrance to the gorge of Aoos, at the entrance to the gorge of Aoos, there is the large single-crossed bridge of Konitsa, which was built in 1870-71 by a workshop of 50 masters, led by the foreman Zioa Fronzo of Pyrsogianni. The bridge was built with donations by the residents of the city and mainly by Yanniotis Ioannis Loulis, who allocated about half of the 120,000 stones that his construction cost.
The stone bridge has a length of 36 meters and a height of 20 meters, while under the arch is the small bell that meant to warn passers-by not to cross the bridge when the wind blew from the inside of the ravine, and there was a risk of being dragged and fall.

Intermediate bridge
At the point where the provincial road from Bourazani to Molyvdoskepasto approaches the Aoos River, there are the ruins of the now ruined Meso-bridge. The bridge is built at a strategic point and it is believed that its first foundation was here in the 7th century AD. century, on Konstantinos Pogonatos.
Observing the sad old remnants of the old bridge, we should bring to our minds a large, three-pointed bridge, with a central arc of more than two extreme and its unusual peculiarity, which was the flat corridor of its passage.
The bridge exploded in 1940 by the Greek army during the invasion of the Italians and a few years later (1944) its destruction was completed by the German army.

Megarias-Rachis Bridge

It is located in the central district of Kastaniani. It was built in 1895 without a parapet, which was added in 1931 and repaired in 1967. It seems that there was the structural and morphological model of the Malnitsa bridge, which of course has been greatly improved. Its length is 12 m.

Malenitsa Bridge

The stone-built stone bridge of Malnitsa is 500 meters north of Kastaniani on the way to Lagada and has been named after the homonymous stream of Malnitsa. It is one of the most important works of Kastanian artists’ art. It was built in 1934 with the personal work of the residents and craftsmen of the village. The opening of the arc is 8,00 m and with a radius of 4,00 m.
Metsaion Bridge

It is the oldest and tallest built bridge of Kastaniani. It was built in 1845 on the site of an older bridge of 1835 that was destroyed. Its structure and structure is archaic with an arc of about 10 m.

Paraspori Bridge

Shortly before arriving at Chionades there is the stone-built one-arched bridge at Paraspori, which, according to tradition, was built in 1800 by Pyrsogianni craftsmen. The bridge has an arc opening of 5.50 m, height 2.80 m and width 2.80 m. From the decade 1910-1920 the river bed has been abandoned, flooding its left. So the old vault fell and became empty.
The new deeper bed was created by a supplementary wood bridge that was abandoned and dripped from the stream in the 1950s. Already in the place of the old wood bridge, a new one was built.

Black Stone Bridge

Characteristic of the Black Stone bridge (1817), just before the entrance of the village of Pournia, is its quaternary relief bows, while the landscape complements the icon, tap, hagiography of Pantokrator on a steep cliff above the bridge and the half-ruined watermill next to him.

Vergos Bridge

In the Sarantaporos tributary, Kryoneri, next to the old Vergos hani (or Hani Kouliou), near the village of Nicanor, the monotonous bridge of the same name is preserved. It was built in the late 19th century by the craftsman Fotis Lolo, from the neighboring village of Bank.

Topolitsa Bridge

It was built by Giannis Petrou Tsipa from Pyrsogianni in 1903 and it is a stone one-arched bridge.

 

Bourazani Bridge
The new bridge in Bourazani (province of Konitsa) was built in 2008. Its construction is combined with the traditional stone bridges of the area. It bridges Aooh. There is still a watermill, a water mill and old military facilities.
