Nile Rodgers: Lady Gaga featured on upcoming Chic album

After a later career that includes work on tracks for artists like Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Daft Punk, and Sam Smith, Chic founding member Nile Rodgers has confirmed that he's working with yet another pop artist, Lady Gaga — this time for his own material.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Rodgers confirmed the upcoming Chic album, It's About Time, will feature vocals from Gaga in addition to Janelle Monae and Miguel, while "repurposed" tracks featuring Chic co-founder, the late Bernard Edwards, will also appear in the collection. The album's first single, "I'll Be There," was released in 2015 and topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Specifics regarding the new collaborations were not divulged.

Rodgers and Gaga took the stage together at February's Grammy Awards, performing as part of a tribute to David Bowie, with whom Rodgers also worked as producer of the 1983 album Let's Dance. Rodgers is also reportedly working on Gaga's next album, set for a 2016 release, alongside RedOne, Giorgio Moroder, and Record of the Year Grammy-winner Mark Ronson.

"My man I LOVE YOU Nile," Gaga said via Instagram following their Bowie tribute. Rodgers previously spoke of working with Gaga during an interview with Time Out. "She's the greatest, I love her," he said. "How can you not love someone who sings her ass off, comes to the studio looking like a million dollars but will stay there all night if you want. And just let you change a song, rewrite it and let you do all sorts of stuff, and she's cool with it. She'll experiment, she's a real musician – she's what every composer and producer wants to work with."

Fansite Gaga Daily tweeted a photo of Rodgers in the studio with Gaga and Diane Warren, who co-wrote the Oscar-nominated track, "Till It Happens To You," in 2014.

Gaga also previously collaborated with Rodgers for a cover of Chic's 1979 single, "I Want Your Love," and on an accompanying music video, which also served as a promotional campaign for Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 2016 line. Listen to the Rodgers/Gaga collaboration in the video below.
