Plant Description: Arctic Butterbur is a large leaved native perrenial that flowers in early spring and large leaves from Spring-Summer. In the Aster family, flowers are small with white to pale pink petals. Leaves can be almost 1 foot wide and have a soft, fuzzy underside. Spread by rhizome. Leaves, roots, and flowers have been used to treat cough, colds, and congestion. *NEVER CONSUME PLANTS WITHOUT PROPER ID*

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Acrtic Butterbur occurs most commonly in mixed conifer and woodlands such as Doug Fir, Hemlock, Maple, and Alder as well as Elderberry, Salmonberry, Salal, bleeding heart, miner's lettuce, and native ferns. This plant makes a great spreading ground cover in moist woodland gardens.
