      Morphology
      Annual shrubs, ca. 0.5-2.0 m high, strong smelling; Branchlets densely white pubescent. Leaves simple, alternate, palmately 3-9 (-11) foliolate; stipules ca. 3-5 x 1-2 mm, lanceolate, acuminate; petiole 2-12 cm long, pubescent, hairs white, appresed; lamina ca. 1.5-12 x 0.4-2.0 cm long, narrowed towards base, long acuminate towards apex, coarsely serrate, scabrid above, adpressed pubescent with sessile glands beneath. Flowers dioecious, greenish; Male flowers ca. 2-2 cm long pendent panicles; bracts linear, ca. 3-5 mm; perianth-lobes oblong, ca. 3 x 1 mm; Female flowers crowded under leafy convolute bracts; bracts orbicular, ca. 4mm across, brown. Achene ca. 3-4 mm in diameter, shining, yellowish brown, minutely pilose to glabrous, ovate. Seed only with fleshy unilateral endosperm.
