Growing form
Perennial herb.
Size
30–60 cm high.
Stem
The stem is covered with patent hairs from the base to the summit.
Leaf
The lamina (8–15 cm), palmately veined, lobed, shallowly plicate, glabrous or glabrate above, and pubescent only along the ribs beneath. The lobes are narrowly deltoid with nearly straight edges. The margin is serrate and there are 17–21 teeth per lobe. The stipules of the basal leaves are typically green.
Flower
The inflorescence is cymose and rather constricted, not reaching much higher than the foliage. The flowers are small, yellowish green. The receptacles are attenuate and glabrous. The calyx and epicalyx are four-leaved. The corolla is absent. There are one carpel and four stamens in a flower.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is an achene.
