Local Names

Armenia: (Sibekh sovorakan); Azerbaijan: Аdi qаzаyаğı; Georgia: – koprchkhila, – bat’ipekha (Javkhetian), – konchkhela (Pshavian), – k’ap’archkhela (Javakhetian), – k’oprchkhilo (Somkhitian), – q’vaviprchkhila (Meskhetian, Kisiqian) (Makashvili 1991); English: Falcaria.

Botany and Ecology

Biennial herb, with moderate whitish coating. Root spindle-shaped. Stem between 30–60 cm. tall. Basal and lower leaves 1–2 ternate or pinnately compound. Lower leaves with long petioles, two-parted and each divided further to 3 lobes and with teeth. Upper leaves usually ternate, less divided and sheathing around the stem. Many umbels, of 5–10 rays, umbels collectively more or less flat topped. All umbels bearing linear leaves at base. Flowers green to white. Fruit born on narrow stalk.
