This is our regular go-to place. A convenient Grandview location, not in an airport or a city center. We have two more rentals upcoming next month.
The staff here has always gone out of their way to make sure we have what we need. I even requested a car with Texas plates one time, as I was driving to an event in Texas. I was sort of joking, but said if any came up during my rental period, I'd sure like to have one. They delivered! A Texas plate on the car. Well done.
The last time I picked up a car, the previous renter had left the gas tank almost empty. They asked if I wanted them to fill it up or if I'd rather be able to return the vehicle with that low fuel amount upon my dropping the car off. After discussions amongst themselves, they decided the fill the tank for me, and profusely apologized for my wait time, which was only a few minutes.
This location has always gone above and beyond for my family and me. We are now loyalty club members, and frequent renters. Keep up the good work!
If Seinfeld had gone here, they would have known how to take and how to hold the reservation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

"Derrick" wanted to play games about getting a vehicle when there's already a reservation in the system. Miraculously, all of their cars disappear 10 minutes before closing time, but suddenly reappear "tomorrow morning".
Don't waste money through your insurance rental car coverage if they require the use of that to be Enterprise rental. Save your $5.00/month and just rent from a company that wants your business; not one you're forced to submit to.
8:00-5:30 means 8:00-5:30. Not 8:00-5:00. Find a respectable rental company like Hertz or Alamo and get the vehicle you need.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

On Feb 19th, I reserved a car online to pick up at this location (because it's within walking distance of my residence) on Feb 21. The type of car I reserved was a Toyota Corolla or similar. when I arrived at 5 pm on Feb 21st, the car I was given was a Dodge Challenger. I said I did not want a sports car. The manager said my only other option was a BMW for more money. Because I needed the car to get to work the next morning while my car was in the repair shop, I had no choice but to take the Dodge. The agent walked around the car, and there was no visible damage. I was uncomfortable driving the car and returned it a day early. I pulled into the lot and bumped the parking block with the piece of plastic that is under the car. There is about 2 inches of clearance under this car. It bent this piece of plastic. No other damage occurred. I am being charged for a dented bumper and other things. $1200. That is a scam. I did not cause any damage to any other part of the car, but that piece of plastic. I wish I had taken a picture. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE.

1733 W 5TH AVE, Columbus OH. This location called me in the morning to set up a time to pick up my vehicle that I'll be renting for 2-3 weeks and asked if I could come in at 2:30. I had an appointment and said I would come in close to that and they told me any time before they close. I arrived before 3. When I got there they didn't have any vehicles available except a 20 ft long 4-door truck. I don't think it would even fit in my small apartment parking lot.
While the front desk guy (who was very pleasant) was trying to check on a car getting prepped and/or find any other car close, what appeared to be the manager came from the back and said the truck is all they have so I need to take that or they can just call me when something comes in. However, when they did call, they wouldn't be able to guarantee it would still be there when I got there, they couldn't reserve or hold it even if I agreed to pay as soon as they called, and was too short staffed to deliver it. After a little back and forth about me not having a ride later that night and it would have to be the next day when I had a ride, they said they could pick me up the next day (when I didn't need a ride). I asked if they could pick me up that night if it came in, and he laughed and said, "so now you want picked up tonight"
Instead of trying to continue to figure this out, I asked what other location I could pick a vehicle up, offering to go anywhere, even as far as 30 miles East- after glancing over at the monitor the front desk guy was at for 2 seconds- he told me no location anywhere had any available vehicles and I would just have to wait till they called. (And I guess hope no one else came before I could find a ride)
So I had my reservation switched to Hertz. If I ever was forced to rent from enterprise in the future, it will definitely not be the one at 1733 W 5TH AVE, Columbus OH
Update: they just called about the car. I guess no enterprise in Columbus had an available car to rent for 7 days...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I had a very poor, very costly experience at this location years ago and thought I would try again when I needed a 1 day basic rental for a work engagement. This is the 2nd time I've encountered poor customer service and inconsistencies in policy information and billing. The person who answered the phone when I called could not answer any of my questions pertaining to my rental cost which was quoted 64.00 for 1 day and finalized for 297.50. I was out on hold and transferred to the manager who I also don't feel as though I received transparency.
This is not about being mad because it was expensive, or trying to get something for nothing. This is about buying a service and the people employed to defend said service cannot speak to how and why the service was priced as such and it doesn't compute with what was priced originally.
This office and company has lost my trust and patronage on account of this disappointing experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jun 2, 2015Previous reviewMy brother and I recently tried to rent a car at Enterprise in Grandview off of 5th Avenue. When we came in, it turned out there was some information that the person with whom we made our reservation failed to give us over the phone so we actually had to make several trips home for documents to verify our address which I thought to be convoluted but we still obliged because I understand the need to uphold policy. After 2 trips home and running late for our trip I asked why we couldn't simply prepay our trip, in either cash or credit and the desk attendants proceeded to give attitude, dismissal and defensiveness that was not only visible to us but pulled focus from other guests in the lobby at the time. I'm here to tell you as a customer service manager for over 13 years, this is utterly unacceptable. Even when faced with disgruntled guests, NEVER do you lose your composure, cut off a guest, roll your eyes, make comments with serious inflection that you probably didn't expect me to catch, and then get your manager because you've decided you're done dealing with this who then also proves to be unhelpful. The attendants did not any exhibit any patience so we cancelled our reservation and made other travel arrangements.

I am reviewing based on a family member's experience. After an auto accident the at fault persons insurance provided a rental car through Enterprise. At the time the rental car was picked up a credit card was required by the person picking up the car (my family member). He was told that his card would not be charged without notification and an understanding that he would then be responsible for the daily rental charge or the car should be returned. The at fault insurance company totaled the vehicle and at the same time no longer paid for the rental. Instead of notifying my family member as explained at the time of pick up, Enterprise began charging a daily rental fee beginning with one lump charge. Upon contacting Enterprise the representative stated they had tried to make contact. First of all there is no phone log, missed call or voice mail from Enterprise. Secondly the first charge (there were multiple charges) was for several days, days in which they could have reach out letting the person in possession of the rental know that they were now responsible. When contacted, the associate at Enterprise rudely stated that more charges would be incurred that night again not allowing at least a day to try to resolve the inconsistencies. Now Enterprise has responded (after a negative review) offering to help rectify the issue at hand. It should not take a negative review to step up and do the right thing nor should there be threats made stating that they were going to continue to make charges if the car was not returned immediately. Insurance was paying for the rental previously and there was clearly a miscommunication and the more appropriate customer service response would have been to allow for some time for the consumer you are charging to rectify the situation. Do not wait until a public unsatisfactory review is posted. It is no surprise that Enterprise has such a low rating. Their customer service needs training and whoever is responsible for following through with the policies Enterprise has in place should be made accountable for their lack in doing their job. The car has now been returned to Enterprise and Avis is bending over backwards in customer service and working with insurance to make an unfortunate event a little easier to resolve.

THESE GUYS ARE SHADY AND THIEVES. They will charge your card when insurance is supposed to be paying and refuse to refund your money. They will not notify you they are charging you and wait til about a week when it's a high payment before they charge you. They are running a scam here to get more money and it's awful. DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE. THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND STEAL YOUR MONEY.

#EnterpriseRentACar , our family just rented a car from your Columbus, Ohio Lazelle Road location and I'm NOT HAPPY. Not only was the vehicle not ready per our reservation and was given a smaller vehicle, but the said vehicle was disgusting. We are now late for our trip because we had to clean our own rental. Y'all need to fix this...

I've always had great service from this branch. The only complaint is its size and their availability of cars. There are a lot of times during the week where the lot is empty. They do a good job to connect with other branches to get a car... but there is a weird irony when a company whose business is to rent cars doesn't have cars to rent.
To that end, the car I received today is absurd. Not ERACs fault, I blame Nissan. It is 2019, why is there a car that doesn't have power windows and locks!? Unbelievable.
The manager (forget his name) and Leah (a manager trainee) were both great!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
