  • DESCRIPTION: Rumex Acetosa was once a common vegetable in the British Isles, its now lesser used. Medicinally it helped with scurvy because of its high concentration of vitamin C. It was also used to fight sinus infections. <br><br> This engraving is from Plenck's scarce "Icones Plantarum Medicinalium Secundum Systema Linnaei Digestarum." This work was devoted to the medicinal properties of native European plants. Many had never been illustrated before. The engravings have a freshness and simplicity that charms collectors today.
