Deciduous shrub up to 3 m high with thin, green shoots, pubescent in youth.

Leaves are alternate, petiolate, trifoliate.

Flowers up to 2 cm, irregular, solitary or in pairs in the leaf axils, light yellow.

The fruit is a narrow-oblong, flattened bean with two or more seeds.
