Description
Fireweed
Origin: Northern parts of the northern hemisphere: wastelands, riverbanks, roadsides. Epilobium angustifolium can form large numbers in difficult areas. Fast propagation due to underground runners and seeds. Very beautiful inflorescences, especially in large groups. Attractive for butterflies and other pollinators. Suitable for natural landscaping. Use for low-maintenance plantings. Erosion control. Tolerates temporary inundation by water. Traditional use as tea and for healing purposes.
Rapidly germinating, keep seed in constant moisture (not wet) with temperatures of about +20°C [68°F]. Seeds must be covered thinly. Do not cover very small seeds, but tightly press them into the earth. Keep in cooler conditions after germination occurs.
