Distribution: Native from East Central and Southeast Europe to East European Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (accepted as Pentanema oculus-christi (L.) D.Gut.Larr., Santos-Vicente, Anderb., E.Rico & M.M.Mart.Ort.).

Habitat: Open terrains- grasslands, pastures, clearings of forests.

Flowering period: Late spring to early summer: MAY, JUN.
