Polygala vulgaris subsp. oxyptera (Rchb.) Schübl. & G. Martens (syn. Polygala oxyptera Reichenb.)

Taxonomy: Fam. Polygalaceae// Genus: Polygala// Species: Polygala vulgaris L.// Subspecies: Polygala vulgaris subsp. oxyptera (Rchb.) Schübl. & G. Martens.

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski and Matevski, 2005) and  Flora Europaea (Tutin et al., 1968) as Polygala oxyptera Reichenb., Iconogr. Bot. Pl. Crit. 1: 25 (1823). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+) is Polygala vulgaris subsp. oxyptera (Rchb.) Schübl. & G. Martens, Fl. Würtemberg: 455. 1834.

Lifeform: Perennial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native to Europe according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) and The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Raab-Straube, 2018+).

Habitat:  Edges and clearings of forests.

Flowering period:  Late spring – early summer: MAY, JUN.
