Variability: Dorycnium herbaceum var. macedonicum (Degen & Dörfler) Kuzman.
Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Micevski, 2001) as Dorycnium herbaceum Vill. (syn. Dorycnium pentaphyllum Scop. subsp. herbaceum (Vill.) Bonnier & Layens). In The Euro+Med PlantBase (Source: ILDIS World Database of Legumes, 2010). this taxon is accepted at the subspecies level.
Lifeform: Perrenial. Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to South and Southeast Europe (Spain to Balkan Peninsula), Moldova, European and Asiatic Turkey to Caucasus according to the distribution information provided by The Euro+Med PlantBase (Source: ILDIS World Database of Legumes, 2010).
Habitat: Found in open habitats- grasslands, rocky terrains.
Flowering period: Late spring – early summer.
