Determined according to the botanical keys provided in Flora Europaea (Tutin et al., 1972) as Acinos arvensis (Lam.) Dandy. The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families, 2010) is Clinopodium acinos (L.) Kuntze.
Distribution: Native from Europe to Central Siberia and Iran according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Open habitats – grasslands, pastures, rocky terrains, clearings of forests from the lowland up to the subalpine belt.
Lifeform: Annual – therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Flowering period: Late spring – summer: MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG.
