Distribution: Native to Macaronesia, West Europe to West Himalaya; Norhwest Africa according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Dry and open habitats- dry grassland, rocky terrains.
Lifeform: Biennial. The first year of the life cycle is vegetative, characterized with basal rosette formation. The second year is generative, characterized with stem formation, flowering, fruiting and senescence.
Flowering period: Summer- autumn: JUL, AUG, SEP.
