Lathraea squamaria L.

Taxonomy: Fam. Orobanchaceae// Genus: Lathraea// Species: Lathraea squamaria L. The classification is given according to The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Marhold, 2011).

Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea (Tutin et. al, 1972).

Lifeform: Obligate root parasite on trees. Found on Alnus glutinosa  as host.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Iran; East and west Himalaya according to distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Woods, forests, riparian vegetation.

Flowering period:  Spring: MAR, APR.
