Taxonomy: Fam. Compositae// Genus: Pilosella// Species: Pilosella caespitosa P. D. Sell & C. West.

Determined according to the botanical keys provided by Sell and West in Tutin et al. (1976) as Hieracium caespitosum Dumort., Fl. Bel. 62 (1827) (H. caespitosum subsp. caespitosum). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Greuter, 2006+) is Pilosella caespitosa (Dumort.) P. D. Sell & C. West in Watsonia 6: 314. 1967.

Lifeform: Perennial; Hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Distribution: Native from Europe to Caucasus and West Siberia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat:  Wet grasslands.

Flowering period: Summer, reblooming later in the season.
