Roman Nettle, aka Urtica pilulifera, which basically means ‘I burn and I have little balls’ if you break down the Latin. It’s a stinging nettle that we got via Cyprus.
It is good medicine and eating when young, like our familiar Stinging Nettles, Urtica dioica (Latin then Greek for 'I burn and have two households’, meaning the plant is either male or female {with exceptions, of course}. A plant where plants tend to have one sex is also called dioecious. The Roman Nettle has male and female flowers on the same plant, making it monoecious (meaning one house).
