SEEDS OF BLACK ALDER - ALNUS GLUTINOSA

Riparian tree. Good timber. The wood is used in turnery, dye and paper industry. If you put leaves under the soles of your feet your pains will be relieved and be a good treatment against sweaty feet. When cooked its bark is used as mouth wash with multiple benefits.

Deciduous tree 20m high with a smooth and glossy bark. The leaves are dark green and remain green until they fall. The flowers are reddish and dark brown. The woody fruit looks like a small pine cone.

Prefers siliceous, fresh or moist soils, not chalky. It is found in moist areas such as riverbanks.

Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing at temperatures of 18ºC/22ºC.
