Neben den reinen Comics gibt es noch großartige Erklärungen über die Entstehung einzelner Figuren, so dass man nachvollziehen kann, wie damals alles entstanden ist."Koko the Clown" z.B. war Teil der Animationsserie "Out of the Inkwell", die Max Fleischer (1883-1972) bereits ab 1918 schuf. "Betty Boop" kam erst 1930 dazu und war als Nebenfigur für Koko gedacht, entwickelte sich aber schnell zur beliebtesten Figur der Fleischer Studios, sogar gegen Konkurrenz von Popeye (ab 1933) und Superman (ab 1941). Der s/w-Anteil des Buches beträgt 43 Seiten (nämlich die Dailies, die zwischen dem 23.07.1934 und dem 18.03.1935 erschienen); der Rest (die Sonntagsseiten, veröffentlicht vom 25.11.1934- 21.08.1937) ist in Farbe. In den Sonntagsseiten geht es oft darum, dass schauspielerin Betty ihre resolute Tante Tilly und ihren viel zu kleinen Freund Hunky dory ebenfalls in den Studios unterbringen möchte. Auch ihr frecher kleiner Bruder Bubbles soll berühmt werden, hat selbst aber gar kein Interesse daran. In den Dailies geht es eher um Betty selbst als Schauspielerin, ihre Verträge und die Heerscharen von anwälten, die diese ständig überwachen und letztendlich Filmaufnahmen absolut unmöglich machen. Somit kann man den Comic schon als beißende Satire auf das damalige Hollywood und ihre Stars interpretieren.
