I decided to write this quick review to correct misinformation on the filter size as stated by the manufacturer, in case there are people out there looking at this lens interested in buying filters to go with it at the time of purchase.

At the time of writing this review (04-15-23), the specifications on filter thread size as listed by the manufacturer and all vendors selling the lens, is specified as 67mm.
THIS IS FALSE
The actual filter thread size of this is 62mm.

Otherwise this lens is 5 stars. Docked a star because of misinformation on the manufacturer’s part and it needs to be corrected.

I have been waiting for this lens to come out and it did not disappoint, it is incredible, you just have to know what it was designed to do. I have been using this on my Sony A7ii. Some observations (just my personal opinionand not long term). From approximately 4ft to 25ft it is incredibly sharp wide open at f0.95 with amazing smooth bokeh. Closer than approx 4ft there is a lot of glow and softness wide open which can be eliminated by stopping the lens down a little. This is fine at close distances because the blur is still good but the IQ noticeably declines. At infinity wide open it is pretty soft kind of like near minimum focus distance but this is to be expected. Not the best for Astro photography, there is a huge amount of coma wide open, need to stop down at least to f2 for decent performance. Build quality is extremely good, it doesn’t get much better than this.
I only use manual lenses so I can only compare it to older fast lenses which it obviously blows away like the Minolta 58 1.2 and Nikkor 50 1.2. The bokeh wide open reminds me of the canon 85 f1.2 it’s that good, I did not notice any onion rings at all. One thing I did notice is that when stopped down and used at infinity on my Sony the edges are not as good as you might think, a decent amount of CA and softness but this may be due to the Sony sensor. So not my first choice for landscape shots if that is what you want I would recommend a cheaper slower lens.

Overall, this is a specialized lens and when used to it’s strengths you will have to pay for an extremely overpriced lens to match it. When used in between 4ft and 25ft in my experience it can not be matched, the smooth blur and how it renders are very unique and that is without considering its strengths in low light. I don’t have 12k to drop on a lens that maybe can be 1% better than this one so I think I finally found my fast 50mm lens.

I ordered this lens on August 2nd with the knowledge that it wouldn't be delivered until October. I'm writing this on August 10th and the lens was delivered today! Just about impossible to find this lens anywhere else. Unless my ordering experience was unique, I encourage you to order from Amazon soon. My lens shipped FedEx Priority, so it flew across the Pacific, rather than travel in a container ship. Kudos to Amazon!

No need to go into the details on this lens, if you're reading this you've probably already read or seen the in depth reviews already on the Internet. I will confirm that the lens is well made, it's metal and heavy, and all the controls work smoothly. My particular example mated with the rangefinder in my Leica M10-P perfectly; there was no need to adjust the focus. Your mileage may vary.

I also own the 7Artisans 50mm f/1.1 and this lens is quite different. While the f/1.1 has reasonable center sharpness wide open, it's very soft on the edges and corners unless stopped down quite a bit. It's a creamy softness and not necessarily objectionable -- depends on the subject. This TTArtisans f/0.95, however, is much sharper wide open at the edges and corners; noticeably so.

5 stars for this lens, not because it's on par with the Leica Noctilux -- it's absolutely not, but it's great value at this price point. It's just fun shooting at f/0.95 and, if it was not for this lens, I would never have the opportunity.

I paired the ttartisan 50mm f0.95, Fotodiox Pronto Pro and Sony a7riii together and now have a fast eye focusing 50mm f0.95 lens. Still can miss focus occasionally but with such a narrow dof I blame that on the tiny bit of movement that can occur between getting the focus locked on target and when the shutter button is pressed.

Great lens, especially if you pair it with a autu-focusing adapter.
