Thrashed: Kenda Snow Mad Tire Product Review

If you want to score some points with your "Tender Roni" during the cold winter months in the Salt Belt, be sure to Tweet her friends and let them know that she "looks finer than a new set of snow tires"! If you want to score bragging rights with your riding buddies during the winter, check out Kenda's Snow Mad tire. It's a common misconception that sport quads and snow don't get along. Long story short, your sport quad's snow prowess is almost completely dependent on the type of tires you choose. For those who battle snow for several months out of the year, bucking up for a set of Kenda Snow Mads might be your ticket to supreme snow-topia.

With a very lightweight two-ply carcass, the Snow Mads allow your sport machine to use a combination of wheel speed and the tire's proprietary scoop design to maximize forward momentum. The lightweight carcass takes advantage of centripetal force to grow the tire at high speed like a top-fuel dragster, adding to its ability to traverse deep snow and essentially increasing the effective gear ratio to spin the tires faster at wide-open throttle. Additionally, the Snow Mads are stud-friendly, which helped explain why they kept following me around (Editor's Note: Let him...never mind).

In case the name Snow Mad didn't somehow give it away, these tires are not going to be the best choice for a GNCC or MX racer. Subsequently, the thin carcass is also very vulnerable to rock punctures. So, as long as you keep this tire in the snow where it belongs, the Snow Mad will help keep all you sport guys wheeling throughout the winter! -Lance Schwartz
