What's New for the 2020 Audi R8?
The Audi R8 is a performance-based, driver-oriented luxury small car that has been in production by Audi since 2006. Audi elected to not to make any changes to the powertrain of the 2019 version of this model, despite bringing the model back fully redesigned in 2020.
The new exterior design of this model sits lower and looks more significant than in previous versions. The lower front-end of the 2020 model should, in theory, allow for better maneuverability of earlier years. In the rear, the all-new Audi R8 gets a pretty, new dual-exhaust outlet system and a new rear diffuser, which allows the model to be more aerodynamic. As usual, Audi took their time to ensure the tech-inspired design of this model fits the model’s performance properties.
The all-new interior design of this model keeps the same two-seater, driver-focused interiors we’ve seen in the past. The new infotainment system, known as the Multi-Media Interface, features Virtual Cockpit, which uses a touchpad, buttons/knobs, and voice recognition software to operate the various functions of the interior, such as navigation, media, and more. The all-new interior also comes with LED ambient lighting and an available 13-speaker premium sound system (standard on the V10 trim model).
The 2020 Audi R8 doesn’t include any changes to the powertrain from the previous version of this model. The 562 horsepower V10 engine will remain the standard engine for this model in 2020, with the 602 horsepower V10 remaining as an available option. Audi is committed to providing a thrilling driving experience, and the 2020 R8 does just that. The 602 horsepower V10 engine can travel from zero to 60 miles per hour in only 3.2 seconds, which is on par with many supercars, let alone small luxury cars. The power under the hood of the R8 is impressive, but the two V10 engines get some abysmal fuel efficiency averages. The base engine averages 14 city and 25 highway miles per gallon, while the bigger engine gets about 14 city and 22 highway miles per gallon.
