This colorful botanical engraving was published as part of a 7 volume set of botanical books illustrating the flowering plants of Britain in 1835. The volumes were published in London, by the author, W. Baxter. Research shows that Baxter's adult daughters may have been the hands behind the delicate hand-coloring for many of the volumes.

This particular engraving exhibits very well: the image area is in Near Fine condition, while the margins are Very Good. Please view the photos. This copper-plate Engraving on fine, laid paper is an antique item, not a reproduction. It has survived almost 200 years, and any antique paper item will show small signs of its passage through time. Due to the age of the item and the nature of antique paper, small imperfections are to be expected, and, indeed, are indicators of the engraving's venerable age.
