Meaning of name: The meaning of Ornithopus is not known. Compressus is Latin meaning pressed together, compressed or flattened.
Distribution: It is found from Gingin to Esperance.
Remarks: A prostrate annual with hairy leaflets on stems up to 30 centimetres long. It produces tiny yellow flowers from August to January. It is native to southern Europe.
