Salvia viridis is an annual sage, grown for its colourful pink, blue or white bracts, borne on upright stems in summer.
Salvia viridis 'Blue' bears plants with large purple-blue bracts. It's perfect for growing en masse in a mixed herbaceous border, and makes an excellent cut flower, the bracts holding their colour well.
Grow Salvia viridis 'Blue' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering, but allow some to develop seedheads so they can self-seed around the garden.
