Rhodotypos scandens or the Black Jetbead is a deciduous shrub that bears cup-shaped, white flowers that have four large petals and are borne in singles along the stem.
The flowers are followed by small black berries that are highly poisonous, so don't plant near cattle or where children are likely to have a curious nibble.
It has an upright habit with arching stems and dark green leaves that are coarsely serrated with a prominent venation.
