Chanel bags, flares and berets make Nile Rodgers the best-dressed 70-year-old in the universe

Back in September Nile Rodgers hit the big time. He turned 70 years old, and could've easily settled for a comfortable life away from the limelight, easing into a nice retirement. But no! Rather than kick back, Nile Rogers is proof that, at 70, you can shine as brightly as you did in your peak thirties. He's still touring with Chic. He's still flossing. He's still rocking a look that could work for every decade of one's life.

Rodgers attended the 2023 Serpentine Summer Party smack bang in the middle of Hyde Park last night. One of the starriest events on London's calendar, it brought out the likes of Andrew Garfield, Orlando Bloom and John Boyega. Yet Rodgers outshone every other guy there. With ease.

The man behind “Everybody Dance” turned up in a black suit made of flared trousers, and a matching jacket that was sharp at the shoulder and drawn in slightly at the waist. One lapel was decorated with a double C Chanel brooch, which in turn matched his Chanel quilted cross-over mini bag. An A$AP Rocky move! A black beret was placed artfully over his dreadlocks: a Rogers signature, but also in keeping with the rise in the gallic headwear we've seen across the board at the recent men's shows (Kenzo, Louis Vuitton et al). A pointed boot snuck out from beneath his trouser hems. In short: Rodgers came to play in a fit that is truly properly enjoying itself.

And Rodgers isn't alone. He's joined a roster of famous guys who are doing the most in their seventies. Take Brian Cox for instance. At 77-years old, he's out there rocking Loewe and bagging a Front Row seat. Jeff Goldblum is 70 years old, but thanks to an absurdly good collection of Prada shirts, looks 40 years younger.

70 might not look good on everybody, but on Rodgers it's a vibe. Take note.
