FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Parnassia palustre , Grass of Parnassus, Mýrasóley

Parnassia pallustris; the grass of parnassus is found in grasslands and grassy heather lands on rather moist soils. The starry creamy-white flowers with dark veins and the cordate leaves makes it an easily identifiable plantlet. It can be found almost everywhere except for the deserts of the interior of the country where no suitable habitats exist. It is a member of the Parnassus-grass family family (Parnassiaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is Mýrasóley.
