Sedum villosum; the Hairy Stonecrop is a small red-colored succulent plant with starry red flowers. It grows on wet gravelly lands, but I also found it to grow on a sandy ground near a beach in eastern Iceland. Usually they appear as single plantlets in mossy cracks in stony grounds. The combination of fleshy red leaves and reddish flowers are unique for Icelandic plant species. Other Stonecrop species have yellow flowers. It is member of the Stonecrop family (Crassulaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is Flagahnoðri.
