• Flower: Yellow elongate cluster
• Leaves: reduced to overlapping sheathes from base
• Fruit/Seed: dangling capsule, ½ inch long
• Height: 5-14 inches
• Flowering: May - June
• Habitat: swamps, bogs, thickets, upland forests
