Growing 20-60cm tall, leaves broadly lanceolate, dull, rounded at the base; tiny white flowers in long terminal racemes a little like shepherd's purse, opening from the bottom upwards. Despite the name this isn't related to the Nightshade family. But like Dog's Mercury this is one of those woodland plants that are easily overlooked, because they're so common.
