EXTERIOR
For many years dubbed ‘the king of the primary schools’, this amazing LDV Convoy factory-built minibus was indeed owned by a primary school for 14 years and it has covered a fully verified 33,501 miles from new! Finished in original DAF White, (Code N3NC), the bodywork has defied the years and the fate of many that have long since disappeared. The factory panels are in amazing condition and the paint finish is uniform and bright. Some age-related cosmetic markings and small dings are visible but this example outclasses its contemporaries by miles. There is some light distortion to the rear bumper corners. The underside has never seen repair work and is free from excess applied underseal to reveal the remarkable preserved state. All glass, lights and un-perished rubbers are intact the optional electric side step operates perfectly. It is difficult to comprehend the existence of a better example!

INTERIOR
The interior of this bus is exactly as it left the factory and amazingly well presented. 17 seats, all with 3-point seat belts, offer fantastic carrying capacity and safety for children with height adjustable seats belts. The seats are in superb condition and spotlessly clean and no tears, with the vinyl to just three rear seats picked away by naughty back-row kids! All interior trim is intact as is the clean carpeting and fully trimmed headlining which has slight discoloration. All interior equipment operates perfectly including the original LDV stereo and the cab trim and fascia is commensurate with the remarkably low 33,501 miles covered. The factory wheel brace remains clipped behind the cab seats and the fire extinguisher and first aid kit are still present. A superb high-occupancy minibus with excellent headroom and space with huge potential for a campervan conversion. LDV doesn’t actually stand for Luxury Divine Vehicle, but it should!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original Ford Duratorq ZSD-424 direct injection turbo-diesel engine displacing 2402cc as fitted to all post 2002 Convoys develops 88bhp and 210Nm of torque (an increase from 74bhp enabled by the factory optional turbo intercooler) and enough to propel a full load of passengers and their luggage up and down Welsh mountain roads (verified). The robust engine, deemed strong enough to survive the punishment of being fitted in London TXII cabs, operates perfectly and the engine bay is exceptionally clean with factory stickers and labels intact. The study 5-speed manual gearbox feels tight, strong and is effortless to use. A perfect retro tour bus!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This six-wheel example has the original steel wheels with genuine LDV hubcaps in superb condition. All wheels including the underslung spare wear 185R14C heavy duty LCV/van rated tyres, four of which were fitted brand new in 2021. Servo assisted brakes with discs to front have been overhauled in 2021 and operate exactly as they should.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 28th February 2006, this very late Convoy was one of the final production examples before discontinuation of the model in the same year. The supplying LDV dealership was based in Peterborough, the home city of KGF Classic Cars, and where the van has spent the last 18 months as our very own ‘Fun Bus’! Prior keeper from 2007 to 2021 was the Lionel Primary School in Brentwood, which most likely discovered that the LDV Convoy had been rightly nicknamed ‘the king of the primary schools’ and indeed had won What Van Best Minibus in 2000, 2001 and 2002! KGF Classic Cars purchased the bus in 2021 to be used as a fun vehicle for outings with family and friends. At this point, the bus had covered 29,308 miles and to date more than 4,000 miles have been covered with utter reliability and immense delight – the ‘Fun Bus’ has lived up to the nickname we gave it after just our first outing! A total overhaul and major service was carried out upon purchase to ensure optimum safety and dependability and the bus has completed various trips, including several to North Wales, where mountain roads have been traversed without demur. The ‘Fun Bus’ has captured the excitement of all children (and adults!) within the KGF Classic Cars’ wider family, who will happily ignore far more expensive and prestigious modern and classic cars to go for an outing in the bus – planned trips are eagerly looked forward to for weeks!

The correct Class 5 MOT testing has been upheld in order to allow the bus to be used at full 17 seat capacity and the history file consists of the original handbook and service book, two keys and a full schedule of works undertaken since KGF Classic Cars took ownership. The bus is now ready for a new group of family, friends or even clubs to enjoy what has been a truly dependable and capable vehicle preserved in the very best possible condition. All aboard the ‘Fun Bus’!
