Lesser Spearwort - Ranunculus flammula
Stem often creeping, sometime erect, becoming prostrate with age. The stem branches infrequently and roots when in contact with the surface. The leaves are simple, lanceolate in shape, with parallel veins. The flowers have 5 shiny yellow petals
Pond edges, river banks and other wet places.
May to September.
Perennial.
Widespread and fairly common in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 79 of the 617 tetrads.
