PC Coast Guard medevacs man suffering heat stroke symptoms

PANAMA CITY ― A man was evacuated from a charter boat off Panama City after apparently suffering heat stroke, authorities say.

According to a press release from the Coast Guard, the service’s Mobile, Alabama office received a report at 12:05 p.m. of a 48-year-old man aboard a charter fishing boat about 19 miles south of Panama City who was experiencing heat stroke symptoms.

A 45-foot response boat left Coast Guard Station Panama City to medevac the man to a medical facility.

The boat arrived at the scene at just after 1 p.m. and took the man to emergency medical services at Panama City Marina.

From there he was taken to Bay Medical Sacred Heart in Panama City.

There was no immediate word as to the man’s condition.
