The parents of Miley Cyrus have decided to split…again.
Just three years after country singer Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from wife Tish and then changed his mind, his other half has now pulled the plug on their marriage.
Tish filed for divorce Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court citing “irreconcilable differences,” in documents obtained by TMZ.
The couple, who have been married for 19 years, share five children, including Miley, however their 13-year-old daughter Noah Cyrus is the only minor left in the family.
Tish is reportedly asking for primary physical and legal custody with visitation rights with Billy Ray.
Billy Ray’s soon-to-be ex is also requesting spousal support and wants him to cover attorney fees. The date of the spouse’s separation is listed as “to be determined.”
“This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time,” Tish told People Magazine in a statement.
Billy Ray also released a separate but very similar statement to People.
“This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
In 2010, when the pair first almost parted ways they released a joint statement that said: “We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
Five months later when Billy Ray was a guest on ABC’s “The View,” he announced that had reconsidered and withdrew his divorce filing.
“I want to put my family back together,” the 51-year-old singer said.
The duo’s famous daughter reached out to her father on Twitter Thursday, the same day the divorce news broke expressing that she could not get in touch with him.
“@billyraycyrus since your text and email obviously aren’t working would you like to talk like this?” she wrote.
The frist time around when Miley’s parent’s relationship had hit the rocks, Billy Ray said in a revealing interview with GQ Magazine that Miley’s Disney Channel show “Hannah Montana,” which led to her rise to fame, “destroyed” their family.
“It destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now – the damn show destroyed my family,” he told the March 2011 issue.
