Vernal sedge, a species of the genus Carex, is primarily native to temperate Eurasia. Its native range spans across major regions including Eastern, Southern, and Central Europe, as well as pockets in Western Asia. This plant has also been introduced to Northern Europe, where it has established a presence. Despite its wide spread, vernal sedge remains confined largely within the Eurasian continent.
