Mentor Assignment - Joel Peter Witkin 1 Photograph

BIO: Melanie O'Neal is a fine art photographer residing in Washington, D.C. and was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is recently working on a body of work that focuses on human deconstruction that combines the mediums of photography and painting and also incorporate a 3D perspective. Exhibitions include shows in White Walls and Gallery 31 of the Corcoran College of Art & Design of Washington, DC and Sparkcon's artspark show in Raleigh, North Carolina. Currently she is a student at the Corcoran in Washington, DC studying fine art photography. ARTIST STATEMENT: Exploring the manipulation of the human form, I have taken on my recent project, Transform, as a way to combine two mediums and have them stand individually and as a whole. Representational of a bare canvas, these models have been painted white and separated by the state of transition to show the melding of photography and drawing while also deconstructing and reshaping the means of identity.
