Product Description
Groucovering evergreen/semi-evergreen grass with bi-colored leaves early blooming season (cool season grass). The smallest of Sesleria (in horticulture).
0.5-1' tall x 0.7-1' wide clumps. The upper side of the leave is green, while the other blue, the leaves are twisted, so both colors are visible at the same time. Flowers early from March to May, flowers are insignificant at the beginning and become more showy when they age. Flowers last only till summer.
Slowly spreading dense clumps, well behaved grass.
Full sun, half shade (in hotter areas). Average soil or somewhat drained soils with average moisture = medium-dry, medium to medium-moist. Established plants tolerates some droughts. Prefers alkaline soils, but is adaptable.
This Sesleria is probably the least tolerant to drought than other Seslerias, so it might be better to find a bit cooler spot or area.
Hardy in zones 4 to 8. Tolerates black walnuts and air pollution. Indigenous to the moors and woodland edges in Europe (from Great Britain to Eastern Europe).
Deer and rabbit resistant plant.
Low maintenance grass and trouble free grass - the only work with it is to clean carefully dry/dead leaves in early spring.
Best for rock gardens, as groundcover or edging plant, along paths etc. Meets in bloom with daffodils and other spring bulbs. Combine with common, but a bit shorter perennials or other groundcovers.
Pot size : square 3.5" x 4" perennial pot
