Description

A hairy perennial. It prefers dry grassland and rocky environments on calcareous soil.

Flowers

Anthyllis vulneraria subsp. praepropera (full name) has flowerheads borne on long stalks with leaf-like bracts directly beneath the flower. The flowers are cream, pink, red, purple or yellow.

Leaves

Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. 9-15 pairs of oval leaflets on either side of the stem.

Pod: with 1 or 2 seeds.

Edible

Flowers: used locally in a pleasant tasting herbal tea (tisane).

Medical

Flowers: in a herbal tea to aid digestion.
