Description

Bladder Senna is a deciduous shrub, much branched. The young shoots are often hairy. Planted as an ornamental shrub for its attractive pods, which remain on the plant throughout the winter.

Dry rocky and grassy slopes, open woodland on calcareous soils.

The flowers are pea-like, borne in groups of 3-8.

Leaves

Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. 3-4 pairs of oval, notched leaflets on either side of the stem, ending in 1 solitary leaflet.

Fruits Seeds

Pod: inflated, reddish-brown with age, 5-7 cm long.
